Health Minister Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana has blazoned that the Kigali University Teaching Hospital( CHUK) will officially begin shifting to its new demesne in Masaka, Kicukiro District, by June 2025. Business traffic and limited space for expansion were among the crucial factors impacting the decision to shift CHUK to Masaka, where further land is available for a larger and further ultramodern installation.
According to Dr. Nsanzimana, the relocation design is progressing well, and addition work at the new point in Masaka is in its advanced stages. The minister assured stakeholders that everything is on track to meet the planned timeline.
“ There are only a many months left. We anticipate to finalize everything by June or August, for the sanitarium’s relocation to begin, ” Dr. Nsanzimana said. The new installation will nearly double CHUK’s current capacity, accommodating 827 cases compared to the 400 it presently serves. This expanded capacity is anticipated to address the growing demand for technical medical care in Rwanda and the region.
The new sanitarium design incorporates threemulti-story structures, some rising as high as five stories, to give expanded patient care services. These structures will feature state- of- the- art medical outfit and structure to support advanced individual and treatment capabilities.
